Justified by Faith

Romans 5:1  Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

The Apostle Paul is explaining two very important Bible doctrines in one verse in the Scriptures.  The term "Justification" is a legal term it means "A showing to be just or conformable to the law."  In theology it has a dual meaning of "Remission of sin and absolution from guilt and punishment; or an act of free grace by which God pardons the sinner and accepts him as righteous, on account of the atonement of Christ."  Once we have trusted Christ's finished work on the cross on our behalf we stand justified before God.   When God looks at us He sees us through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.  It is through Jesus' sacrifice we stand innocent before a Holy God.  We literally have peace with God through Jesus Christ.  He is the propitiation for our sins.  A propitiation is " the atonement or atoning sacrifice offered to God to assuage his wrath and render him propitious to sinners."  Christ's sacrifice appeased God.  We are no longer at enmity with God if we have exercised faith in Christ.  We have been reconciled by faith.  Do you have peace in your life?  There is a source of eternal peace, the Lord Jesus Christ.
