John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Jesus is teaching His Good Shepherd message in John 10. Jesus is pointing out the differences between the Good Shepherd and the hireling. The motive of the thief or hireling is clearly explained. Their goal for the sheep is to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus has much better plans for the sheep. Not only does he give life through salvation, but once salvation has been obtained he provides an abundant life for those believers that walk with Him. We don't have to be satisfied with an average Christian life. Jesus came that we might know the abundant life that He can provide. Jesus reminds his disciples that he is the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives his life for the sheep. Jesus would literally lay down his life for the lives of his sheep. Where is your faith today? We can trust the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the good shepherd. He wants what is best for the sheep.
